Characters
Lace - Temple of Spirit &
Emotional Intellect’s (TSEI) military leader.
Lace is an adolescent and orphan trained in Emotional Intellect under
the tutelage and parenting of Jahmun the TSEI Scribe.
Jahmun - TSEI founder and
Scribe. The Scribe of the temple is
equivalent to the emperor of the Temple.
Kai’Nja – Spirit guide of
section BK723 (Earth’s Solar System) and Jahmun’s split personality (muse).
Scene I.
Lace walks
in the Temple of Spirit & Emotional Intellect (TSEI) making the customary
salutations as he walks to the Scribes office to speak with Jahmun.
Lace: (Lace sounds the entry bell) Peace
and blessing to thy Great Scribe.
Jahmun: Come, take your place for conversation, Lace.
Lace
stance 7ft in front of Jahmun’s desk in a military rest position. Jahmun finishes his writing and turns his
attention to Lace focused on Lace’s eyes in a moment of silence.
Jahmun: Are you here to report the training of your
congregation?
Lace: No, Great Scribe.
Jahmun: Hm… (Jahmun contemplates Laces posture) Why
do you stand with such nihilism, Lace?
Lace: Permission to move freely in conversation,
Great Scribe.
Jahmun: You cannot speak your mind in discipline,
Lace? When did this occur?
Lace: Permission to move freely in conversation,
Great Scribe.
Jahmun
sits in silence with his attention set on Lace’s eyes.
Jahmun: Permission denied. If you cannot speak with control I do not wish
to know your thoughts.
Lace: Great Scribe!
Jahmun
stands quickly and extends his arm with his palm aimed at Lace’s chest. Lace is lifted from the ground out of his
rest position and forcefully thrown backward against the wall of the office.
Jahmun: Mind
your chi, Lace. You are a leader of
warriors not a petulant child.
Lace: (In tears) I cannot lead warriors, Father,
I am a child!
Lace
swings his arm in a backhand motion canceling Jahmun’s chi blast on him.
Lace: I have been with you since you found me dying
in Small Town Lake where I was never a child!
I have trained everyday since then under you, Great Scribe, without rest
and not one day was I a child! And now,
I am to mode these recruits into the likeness of the Temple, while I am
inwardly jealous that they experienced what you never gave me! Childhood!
No one else can I call a father, yet I walk in here and am punished if I
do not address you as my Scribe, my Great Scribe! I am not asking for permission to move freely
in conversation, Great Scribe. I am
asking for permission to speak to my Father!
Jahmun
stares blankly at Lace, cold and faceless.
Jahmun: Permission denied. If this is your only request this day I bid
you farewell, Lace.
Lace: (Lace
stands with bearing, whips the tears off his face, and looks into Jahmun with
eyes full of fury) Is it intellect you express to me in your emotions, dear
Father or benign neglect? (Lace makes the
customary parting gesture to Jahmun)
Peace and blessings, Great Scribe.
Lace
walks out of the Scribe’s Office. Jahmun
returns to his seat to continue writing.
Jahmun: I can only hope that I received the right
instruction on educating him. He is,
without doubt, the heir to the Temple and rightful heir to the Galactic Counsel
seat. I have no choice but to mold you
to be above reproach, my son. I do not
wish to deny you the life of a human, (Jahmun
sighs) but one day you will understand that some humans are denied humanity
for others to experience it.
Kai’Nja:
Is
that an expression I see on your face? (Kai’Nja
materializes in front of Jahmun’s Desk.)
Give it to me to dispel. You
must maintain your logical grace, Jahmun or our mission will surely fail.
Jahmun: Aye, Kai’Nja.
Jahmun
stands from his chair and extends both arms in front him with palms up. Kai’Nja places her hands on Jahmun’s with her
palms down. A yellowish hue surrounds
Jahmun and Kai’Nja as Jahmun releases his emotional frustration to Kai’Nja.
Kai’Nja: Lace’s eyes are still young. Growing with potential and potency. The more you hold his emotions at bay the
sooner he detaches creativity.
Jahmun: Aye, Kai’Nja, but he is challenging to
control. Did you not just see him banish
my chi with the wave of his hand? It
wasn’t too long ago where that same chi blast would have put him on bed
rest. It’s only a matter of time before
he is stronger than I. How will I
control him then if he still is not ready?
Kai’Nja: Lace cannot sit on a council if he cannot
see. His vision sees only in 3. To see in the 5th he must
spontaneously split from his erratic emotional chi, as you with me.
Jahmun: Aye, Kai’Nja, but my circumstances were far
different. If I did not split from you,
Earth would be no more. He’s a child in
puberty with heavy attachments to his emotional states. He cannot make decisions on a council
embodied in his chi as he is. He has to
be ready to attain the seat before winter falls or the council will forgo
Earth’s appointment and instill an interim until the next precession. He is strong only in body with a mind of
glass and time is thinning.
Kai’Nja: You speak as if 5th sight is easy
to obtain. Your trek towards this vision
nearly left you insane. Be patient,
reserved. Lace will develop on pace to
place Earth on the Council of great worlds. (The yellowish hue fades as Kai’Nja begins to dematerialize.) Lace will succeed, have faith, Jahmun,
believe in his ability to lead and you will have your successor in deed.
Jahmun: Aye, Kai’Nja
Jahmun
takes a seat and continues writing.
